Albums in 2011

Albums in 2011

I haven’t fallen in love with any records this year, but I’ve enjoyed a bunch, especially since signing up for Rdio. Now I listen to just about every record that interests me on the day that it’s released.

Bon Iver is by far my favorite release of the year. I was ho-hum about it before seeing their show in Atlanta (thanks to Ashley), but I felt like I really *got* the songs after seeing them performed live. Also, I think I’m the only person in the world who likes “Beth/Rest”.

I feel like I still owe Strange Negotiations some time, but the production and arrangements are his best yet.

The Cut Copy, Mates of State, Black Lips, M83 and Foster the People records are a lot of fun, and I listen to them a lot, but I don’t really identify with them. They don’t really mean anything to me. That probably means I’m old.

Speaking of getting old, this is the first time in my life I’ve spent a significant amount of time listening to a children’s record (No!), and it’s probably the only one on the list that I know all of the words to.
