Christmas Stuff 2011

Family and celebrating the Incarnation is great, but Christmas is really about getting new stuff, right? Here’s my haul from this year.

1. Areopress from my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. I’ve heard a lot about these over the past year, and I’ve been eager to test one out. I’m a french press devotee, but the promise of easier clean-up and better coffee caught my interest. I have to say the as-seen-on-TV packaging and ugly looks made me skeptical, but the results were fantastic. It’s my new default for my morning cup.

2. Kindle Keyboard from my Mom. I’ve downloaded a number of books, but so far I’ve used it exclusively to dig through by Instapaper backlog. After spending all day looking at backlit screens, it’s nice to give my eyes a break at the end of the day.

3. Sodastream from my mother and father-in-law. Leah and I have used this non-stop since we brought it home. The flavored syrups are pretty good, but the sparkling water is the killer feature for me.

4. Cable from Leah. We ditched cable a few years back, and we mostly love it, but I’ve really missed watching the Hawks and the NBA playoffs. I’ve probably watched more basketball in the past week than I have in the last year.

5. Bodum glasses from my soon-to-be-step-sister. The double-walled glass keeps the coffee hotter, but cool to the touch. Pretty fancy.

6. Caran D’ache pen from myself for being handsome.
